Airline effectivity code

This code is used to identify all aircraft of the same type (e.g. 747-400)  maintained by an airline technical department or an independent maintenance facility. All technical documentation present in that facility is customized with effectivity codes  to differentiate  all serviced aircraft of the same type.

Customer Effectivity Code is part of the option to buy customised manuals (IPC, AMM, WDM etc.). These option is mostly exercised by airlines with a sizeable 747 fleet (or a repair station with 747 maintenance contracts).

The customer chooses a 3-number or 3-letter code for each aircraft and these codes will be incorporated by Boeing in the above mentioned manuals and at the same time all customer options not valid for that particular airline are removed, both reducing the look-up time and the failure rate.
